Portland South Primary School is located in the picturesque seaside town of Portland, along the Southwest coast of Victoria. Our school is proud to be a part of the Glenelg network of schools who work together to ensure we share best practices in Education for our students.
We currently have 147 students enrolled and continue to experience growth while still maintaining our ‘small’ school values. Our community is valuable to us, and we work hard to build and maintain important relationships with our families and wider community.

Our instructional model supports the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 with a focus on explicit teaching. This is supported by our Positive Classroom Management Strategies to engage and School Wide Positive Behaviour Strategies to create a positive learning environment where everyone can thrive.
Phonics Plus, Reading Fluency, Vocabulary, Morphology and Texts form a large part of our Literacy instruction. Facts on Fire, Daily Reviews and explicit teaching of Mathematics concepts are important components of our Mathematics curriculum.
Our staff work in teams to continually plan, teach, reflect, refine, and improve our practices. We are committed to ongoing professional development as are always looking to improve and be educational leaders.
Our focus on wellbeing is supported by The Resilience Program where our students learn to be resilient, happy and community minded citizens. Our caring staff ensure all of our students are nurtured as we support them on their learning journey.
At our school, we work hard to ensure we all respect, challenge, believe and achieve to be the best we can be. Our students, families and staff are valued as we all support each other to ‘Reach for the Stars’.
